

Tezpur: Renowned environmentalist and “Forest Man of India” Jadav Payeng was honoured with the newly instituted Asom Nakshatra Award by the Asomiya Suraksha Mancha in Tezpur for his lifelong dedication to environmental conservation. Speaking at the event, Payeng stressed the need for hands-on environmental education, urging schools and communities to engage students in tree planting, biodiversity protection, and sustainable living practices. He highlighted that practical learning can build a stronger sense of responsibility toward nature among the younger generation. The award recognises his decades-long effort in creating a thriving forest and inspiring grassroots environmental awareness across Assam and beyond.
