Guwahati to Host Its First International Marathon
Guwahati is set to witness its first-ever International Marathon on February 7, marking a significant milestone for sports and fitness in Assam. The event aims to bring together professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts and participants from different parts of India and abroad.
The opening ceremony of the marathon was held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati, where Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar formally inaugurated the event. Their presence added significance to the launch and highlighted the growing importance of sports in the state.
The marathon is expected to promote a culture of fitness, healthy living and community participation. Organisers are also hopeful that the event will showcase Guwahati as an emerging destination for major sporting events.
The first Guwahati International Marathon is expected to attract a large number of runners and create an exciting sporting atmosphere across the city.
