District Poonch Police Seize 247 Bottles of Liquor on Dry Day

Surankote, 02 October 2026:
Acting on reliable information, Police Station Surankote conducted a raid during the evening at a dhaba/tea stall/chicken shop belonging to Salman Suleman Sheikh.
During the raid, 247 bottles of liquor were recovered and seized. The action was taken as 02.10.2026 was observed as a dry day, and the liquor was allegedly being sold illegally from the said premises.
On seeing the police party, the accused fled from the spot.
In this connection, FIR No. 322/2026 under Sections 48(a), 48(f), 49 and 50 of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Surankote. Investigation is in progress, and further action will be taken in accordance with law.
Surankote Police reiterates its commitment to curbing the illegal sale and distribution of liquor and other prohibited activities.
